To celebrate International Yoga Day 2018, we thought we'd share our top 5 reasons why we love yoga.
1. REDUCE STRESS
It has been scientifically proven that yoga practice can ease stress significantly. Specialist believe this is because your heart rate is lowered and your body becomes more flexible in responding to stress. For optimal stress release, try focussing on your breathing while practicing relaxing asanas.
2. IMPROVE FLEXIBILITY, STRENGTH AND POSTURE
Most of us with desk jobs have experienced what 8 ours of sitting does to your posture and flexibility. Luckily yoga does wonders restoring our bodies. Even if you have never tried yoga before, practicing simple poses each day will help you feel the difference in your muscle flexibility and strength. Some asanas to try for improved posture include the Bow Pose, Cobra Pose, Standard Forward Pose and Tree Pose. This can also help relieve aches and pains that may be caused by bad posture.
3. BETTER BREATHING
This goes hand in hand with reason number 1. Breathing exercises, called pranayama, are an essential part of yoga practice, allowing you to focus on slowing down the breath and breathing in fully to the pit of your stomach and back to the top of your lungs.
4. IMPROVE BALANCE
The only falling you'll be doing, is falling in love with our summer range. Building up your core strength through yoga can help improve balance in both young and older people, which will in turn help with posture.
